Hannan’s IPM launches cyber arm
Natalie Apostolou
The sale of the Federal Publishing Company to News Limited last year was the catalyst for Michael Hannan’s Independent Print Media Group, to create a new digital business.
Launched in December as Independent Digital Media, and spearheaded by CEO Michael Gethen, the digital arm of IPMG “will be aggressively establishing a market presence in 2008”.
In the first of a series of executive announcements, IDM has appointed ACP Magazines’ former online editorial director Marguerite Kramer to the role of general manager of web publishing.
Kramer was responsible for launching Harpersbazaar.com.au, Madison.com.au, 30daysoffashionandbeauty.com.au, gourmettraveller.com.au and shoptilyoudrop.com.au during her tenure at ACP.
She has also worked as managing editor or Harper’s Bazaar in New York, editor of Melbourne magazine and was a panel judge on the launching series of Australia’s Next Top Model. According to Independent Digital Media, Kramer is looking forward to building up the portfolio of sites that fall under the company’s banner.
Independent Digital Media was formed after the sale of Michael Hannan’s FCP business to News Limited in 2007.
It was recently acknowledged as a finalist in the Best Classifieds category at the AIMIA Awards for its property website, homebound.com.au. DM
