MitchelLake heads to the valley

Digital and technology executive search and consultancy specialists MitchelLake has expanded into the North American market, launching an office in San Francisco and appointing a local CEO, Greg Russell. MitchelLake has already forged partnerships with a number of Australian tech firms operating in the Bay area, including 5thfinger, Bluepulse, Generic Booking Systems, Mobile Messenger and BullRoarer. It has also secured an exclusive consultancy relationship with Disney funded viral marketing start-up PopularMedia. According to co-founder and MD of MitchelLake, Phaedon Stough, the move into the epicentre of the early stage and developed tech market will benefit clients and candidates whose, “seniority and expertise lead them to seek the right position irrespective of the location.” Stough aims to leverage the San Francisco presence with further expansion through the US and internationally. The firm is also working on establishing an Australian/NZ technology network in San Francisco, similar to Innovationbay amd has already partnered with local venture capital firms and ANZATech, an Australian and New Zealand organisation focused on assisting early stage technology firms enter into the US market as their preferred recruitment partner.

US chief Greg Russell, will establish and grow MitchelLake’s US operations, consult to clients on best recruitment practices and execute these requirements tactically for organisations such as PopularMedia, 5thfinger and Bluepulse. Russell started his career with a boutique San Francisco search firm working with early stage technology ventures such as, Redwave Networks and moved to New Zealand working on the integration of Gen-i and Telecom New Zealand. Since returning to the US, he has worked with web 2.0 start-ups including PopularMedia to help them double in size, adding 35 hires in the past year.
