This digital life
natalie apostolou
>> Earliest web memory? 1993. I was researching for a uni assignment on this dinosaur of a machine. To say it moved at glacial proportions would be an understatement. Almost turned me off forever.
>> Digital faux pas? Nearly signing off an email to Rupert with a little ‘xo’. Force of habit.
>> Home page? I’ll give you one guess.
>> Secret site everyone should know about? Well that secret was let out of the bag a long time ago, but if I have to choose a second, it would be superfuture.com. A really slick site which pulls together shopping, hotels, bars, clubs and restaurants from cities worldwide. It even has maps!
>> Mobile phone handset? Sony Ericsson – it’s the Mac of mobile phones
>> PC or Mac? Mac – not for work. Just for real life.
>> Google or Yahoo!? Ummm … is this really even a fair question? Google has made it to verb status. There really is no competition here.
>> Facebook or MySpace? ?!?!
>> Digital hero? Tay Zonday. This guy is incredible, check out his video on MySpace: www.myspace.com/tayzonday.
>> Best digital communication ever seen? MySpace. It’s the ultimate communication tool and it exploits all that is amazing about the internet. It’s personal, it’s social, it’s individualised and it’s creative. The fact that you can become friends with anyone around the world is very exciting.
>> Wish I thought of? Google.
>> What's passé? Closed social web.
>> What's next? Open social web. People are going to be living more and more of their lives on online. The virtual is fast becoming reality.
