Amnesia MD Carney looks for bigger fish to fry
Co-founder and managing director of digital
agency Amnesia Razorfish, Terry Carney, has left the company after more
than a decade.
In a personal message on Amnesia’s blog,
co-founder Iain McDonald, said it was the ideal time for Carney to make
a move following its sale to Publicis Groupe in August. He added Carney
resigned a few weeks ago.
“The company is in better shape than it’s
ever been but at the same time it’s really been the first chance either
of us have been able to consider anything outside Amnesia,” he said.
“So the official news today is that TC
decided to make a clean break and he has resigned – the reality is that
this happened a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t wanted to say anything
until now because I also wanted to have a good think about what this
meant to me and to make some decisions myself.”
However McDonald added: “I’ve personally
decided to stick around and see if I can continue to shake some more
digital apples down from the tree….(though) I haven’t got my future
completely figured out yet.”
The agency, which was launched in 1998, was
sold to Avenue A Razorfish, a US-based digital shop, in 2006 before
becoming part of Microsoft as part of the company's US$6 billion
acquisition of aQuantive in 2007. Microsoft sold the agency to Publicis
Groupe for US$530m (A$631m) in August.
McDonald thanked Carney for all his work at Amnesia, which has grown into one of Australia’s leading digital agencies.
