Telstra Twitter account hacked?

5 November 2009 | by Willem Reyners Tay Print this article Comments Share this article

It appears Telstra's customer service Twitter account @bigpondteam has been hit by the latest direct messaging scam doing the rounds on the micro-blogging network.

The incident was revealed in a two tweets sent by Ben from the customer service team.

Whilst there was no immediate confirmation from the team, Twitter users across the world have been hit with numerous direct messages from people they follow claiming to be able to "make money from Google."

The @bigpondteam account has been one of the pioneers of using Twitter to provide customer service, often by listening and responding to frustrated users directly.

It is part of Telstra's wider web 2.0 strategy which also includes the yesterday's relaunch of their corporate blog, Telstra Exchange.
