Google has upgraded Gmail overnight, with a few key changes to the labeling toolkit.
Gmail, which is still technically in Beta, uses labels instead of folders to sort its mail, allowing the same email to be linked to more than one folder.
The changes released overnight:
Label location moved - The labels have been moved to above the chat list. They are now grouped together with the default labels such as Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc.
Label hiding - If you love the labels in Gmail, but find you are constantly getting lost in a sea of label goodness, this might just be your new favourite feature. Gmail will automatically hide your least used labels, accessible via a dropdown. You can also hide, delete or show a label to make Gmail more efficient for the way you use it.
Drag and Drop - For avid users of Outlook (and almost any other mail client) dragging and dropping emails into folders is a great way to keep organised. Now you can use the same intuitive process right from Gmail. However Gmail provides an extra bonus, allowing you to drag the label any selected messages.
