Profero names social media offering

Digital agency Profero has created a new global department for its social media professionals, called The Hive.

The decision to name the division within the company comes on the back of other companies creating social media specific departments or offshoots.

Mike Zeederberg, managing director of Profero Sydney, said following on from the success they have had incorporating social media into the campaigns for clients such as Universal Music and Movie Network they are keen to ensure clients that social media is already a part of their expertise.

"The aim of creating The Hive is to raise awareness out there in the market that we are doing social media work already."

Zeederberg said five of the 20 staff in the Sydney office would be classed as The Hive, and the new division name would help those employees to feel part of a group with a particular skills set.

Globally, The Hive will account for a team of more than 50 people from strategy, media, creative and technology running throughout Profero offices and incorporates Profero's partner in Europe, Plan.Net.
