Australasia's journal of the new media revolution

Regional areas not Prime for 7TWO

In the last few days we have heard from an increasing number of regional Australians frustrated that they have no access to the new digital channel 7TWO.

Whilst those tuning in to Seven branded stations have been able to tune into 7TWO, and Southern Cross Broadcasting has agreed to start airing the channel on December 1st, Prime remains tight lipped about their future plans. Their standard response to customer enquiries being.

“Thank you for your enquiry. PRIME hopes to make an announcement on its multi-channels in the near future”

However according to the Mediahunter blog, the fights all in the name. Apparently Prime weren't too happy with the 7TWO branding, which is too closely affiliated with Channel 7 branding.

Perhaps regional Australians would have preferred one of the alternative names speculated upon before launch.

It is disappointing that Prime are being so slack, but I live in an area that can receive from Sydney so I'll spend $200 or so getting the old antenna working...then remove Prime altogether.

What a shame that we were promised this channel to launch as of dec 1st, now we are halfway thru the month and still nothing is happening.. PRIME = the least you could do is keep us informed..rural areas or city! How often a week do we have to re-tune our tellys just to see if we've finally got it, just to be disappointed? Pothetic!

Once again regional viewers are losing out. Prime should come to the party and give us the same range of service that one can get in the city. I won't watch Prime until 7TWO is available.

all i would like is that they let us know on 7 when we can stop wasteing time tuning in a channel that is not there yet for us in the country areas instead they waste air time telling us whats on 7two they could also waste some of their air time to let us know when it will be there

What a joke, 2009 and we can't get a digital signal for 7two. Even HD60s signal continually breaks up. I live 2.5 hours north of sydney and have trouble getting analogue and digital signals on all channels, even with boosters to all aerial points. In 1969 we got TV pictures from the moon. 2009 can't get a picture from Sydney or where ever they come from. It's just a Joke'
